Veniece Starks started her recording career under her full name, cutting the single What More Do You Want from Me b/w You Gotta Take the Bitter with the Sweet for Hi Records in the mid-'60s. She later eliminated her last name, releasing three singles -- Let's Stop, 18 Days, Trying to Live My Life Without You -- simply as "Veniece." She worked with Willie Mitchell on-stage, but her recording career came to a halt after Hi closed its doors, and she is best remembered today for her recordings of some of Mitchell's songs.
